GLOCESTER - The town is preparing to do battle again against New England Dirt Riders LLC, which neighbors say continues to allow the operation of dirt bikes on a track that was ordered shut down by the town last June.

Yet another example of how having noisy bikes is reducing our riding areas.
Keep your muffler as quiet as possible, or we'll all have to ride these ElectricMoto Blade, which look like a hot ticket for the future!

BLM vs Dirtbikers
Eric and I went to the BLM meeting in Hollister last night. Actually, the meeting was officially called "Clear Creek Management Area Draft RMP Amendment and Draft EIS Public Meeting." Basically the meeting was all about the pending "management," and I use that term very loosely here, of our beloved Clear Creek riding area. The native plant people would like to see us all die and burn in hell. They want the BLM to close way too much of the area. Of course, in my mind closing 1 mile of trail is 1 mile too much.
The meeting was to start at 5:30pm, so we left Oakland at 3pm, in order to beat most of the traffic and get there in time to have dinner. Took us 1 1/2 hours to get there-not bad!

Noise, and the future of dirtbikes
The overall result of the Will you sacrifice power for a quieter bike poll is that 65% of people will NOT sacrifice power for quietness.
This is a major issue with our sport, as noise is the second major way that people are aware of us. The other way is that whoops and berms tend to form on common tracks, but we can stop them unless we all go slower (yeah right).
But imagine if you will a future where we all ride battery powered torque monsters that make no noise. All of the tracks that are currently limited to use by Mountain bikes could be used by dirtbikes!
A Pipe dream you say? Never happen. It can, and already IS! Read on if you dare.
